Hi,
Long time listener; first time caller...
Just installed Wordpress on my site. Does the existing php.ini file need to be retained or can it be deleted?

Here's the answer I got from Support....
The php.ini file is a configurations setting file for php in the directory that it is in. Some php scripts require that the php.ini is present to work properly, however, I do not believe Wordpress does. A good way to find out whether or not the php.ini file is needed by wordpress is to rename the file to php.ini.old so it is no longer recognized by the server. Then use wordpress as normal for a couple of days and see if there is any difference in performance. If there is not you can delete the file permanently. Keep in mind, though, that some php scripts do require this file.
