View Full Version : I Know There's Probably A Simple Answer...

I’m writing in desperation because I am an utter moron. I don’t know how something that should be simple turned into something so complicated.

The Reader’s Digest version is this: every year I write a holiday newsletter that I include with my holiday cards. This year the thought of dealing with all the printing, folding and drama made me say, no way! I’ll just upload a pdf version online and that will be the end of it. Yet my dear husband suggested making it a webpage instead of a pdf. Heck, he says, even if it ends up being a pdf, you can put the link for that on the webpage you make. I’m nervous but I agree. I decide to add the page onto our domain.

We include a card in our holiday mailing telling people that the newsletter can be found at www.lianaandmason.com/holiday2009. However, when I try to create such a page, not only do I have incredible difficulty, but when I finally am able to get a placeholder page uploaded (since I haven’t finished the ****ed newsletter), the link ends in holiday2009.htm and not just holiday2009. Plain ol’ holiday 2009 delivers a 404 error message. So now not only am I late with the newsletter, I look like a moron.

Is there a simple fix for this that I’m not seeing? Please let me know. Thank you!

And yes, I should know how to do this by now.

Create a folder called holiday2009 in your public_html folder, save the newsletter as index.html, and then upload the file to your new folder. That should work.

Thank you, thank you! I felt it was going to be something relatively simple, but when panic sets in, good sense goes bye bye!

I so appreciate the help!
