Bluehost is amazing. For the few big activity sites on the population with big MYSQL databases we see many people getting the 20% CPU usage thing.

My suggestion is letting people buy like another account and choose an option to combine the stats of that account with a previous account.

Meaning.

Double the Space, Double the Bandwidth, Double All the Features, Double the CPU Usage.

This would help some of the sites with bigger forums as well as provide even more growth for sites that need it.

This would be really useful and lots of people including me would well spend more money to double the account.

Unfortunately this is not possible. Bluehost does not support this. That would be nice, I agree, but I asked when I first joined, and I think that is has been asked here as well, they just said that they don’t support that.

ANd doubling the CPU usage, wouldn't work. It would kill the box and everyone on it. CPU shouldn't be a problem is the scripts and calls to MySQL are written properly

Well CPU does grow exponentially when you have alot of users hitting the site at once.

Also if you run a simple sitemap generator on any site you can literally bring down the site.

Why not set up new separate boxes for heavy users?

Add a new box that can handle 1 - xx accounts (maybe 5-10)
Move the updated accounts that need more bandwidth to this new box?
What am I missing?
Sell out a new box and then start selling a new one...
charge 3 to 4 more than for their old account...mmmm

You’ve got the wrong end of the stick. It costs Blue Host far more than $6.95 to offer 30GB storage, 750GB bandwidth and 20% of a processors power. They rely on the fact that most users will never use anywhere near their limit. Thus, low users subsidize high users. However, if you combine two accounts to form one mega account with a 40% CPU limit, you wouldn’t be paying 3-4 times the amount… You’d be paying 200 times the amount. Blue Host packs on 500 accounts to a box. Thus, if you take up 40% of a box’s CPU, and there are no low users to subsidise you, Blue Host would need to charge you a substantial fee.

My point is that if you use your full BlueHost allowance you’re getting a great deal! You’re getting it for less than it costs BlueHost. Your account is simply being subsidized by low users. Asking to double your allowance is absurd! You’re asking low users to subsidize you massively! If you need more power, get a VPS or Dedicated Solution… and you’ll pay for what you’re using rather than having others subsidize your actions.

Like I said, 20% CPU, is PLENTY! You shouldnt even have to use that much if your scripts are written properly

CPU does significantly go up if there are over 100 users on your forum and gallery.

For me CPU only goes over when all these users and more guests like are active at once.
