there isnt any trick to it

go to your control panel and subdomains

you pick the subdomain name and then choose the domain from a drop down box next to it

nothing in there discriminates whether its an addon domain or whatever else

Hmmm... I guess you have to make yourself better understood, since you have provided very little detail for anyone to help you.

If you are still having this problem, would you care to give more details?

You made yourself very clear in your first post.

I would also like to hear a solution for this issue.

Click on the subdomain icon in cpanel, add your sub domain in thebox, choose your add on domain name in the drop dow menu and click on the add button add you should be good to go.

For an addon domains you need the to use Bluehost's DNS server. Did you tranfer the ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com DNS servers on your add on domain name? It can take 24 hours sometimes before the DS servers are updated before you can use your subdomain.

Bluehost has this note under the subdomian area:

Subdomains rely on the DNS system in order to function, which means that your DNS information must propagate throughout the different DNS servers on the Internet before your subdomain becomes fully active. This process on the average takes a few hours

You will get this error because your domain name servers have not been set yet. (which happends automatically, BTW.) Give it on avarage a couple of hours. I just tried it myself and I got the same error but then after about an hour it worked.

Please read the cpanel manual (http://bluehost.com/help/) about Subdomain (http://bluehost.com/help/Subdomains.htm)

Another note:

Be sure and log into cpanel via your addon domain.

Example path to cpanel:

www.addondomain.com/cpanel

Use the username and password you usually use.

You should be able to add the subdomain to your addon domain by choosing the addon domain from the drop down box.

What don't we get?

Why don't you try explain it again what you are wanting to do?

WOW, he explained it perfectly when he asked. I don't understand why everyone else doesn't understand what he is asking.

For example
The main domain at your bluehost account
maindomain.com

You then point another domain to your bluehost account
newdomain.com

He then wants to add a subdomain to his new addon domain.
subdomain.newdomain.com

It is easy to add a subdomain to the primary domain that you have registered at BH but he (and myself) would like to know how to add a subdomain to a additional domain that you point at BH.

Actually you are complicating the issue by asking a different question.

Sai's issue was that when the subdomain was created, it did not work, Sai posted the error:

site: http//subdomain.addon-domain.net cannot be accessed... DSN error...

crazypenguin and I answered him correctly.

Log into your cpanel via your addon domian name(www.addondomain.com/cpanel)
Create a subdomian.
Wait for the DNS to propogate.

As for your question about HOW to create a subdomian to an addon account, please refer to post 8 where crazypenguin explains how.

Or refer to the cpanel instructions about Subdomains (http://bluehost.com/help/Subdomains.htm).

I get no drop-down list to allow me to add a subdomain to my addon domain.

I have tried logging into cpanel via login.bluehost.com as well as addondomain.com/cpanel - no joy either way.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

DaddyShortLegs
