how to unpack a tarball without shell access?

Hi, I have software (typo3) that says I can't just unpack it on my local box and ftp it over because the tarball contains symlinks.

I don't have shell access and don't feel comfortable sending copies of my drivers licence out to get it.

I ftp the tarballs to my web root. Is there a way or tool that will unpack them for me?
