Is there a manual for BlueMail? Is it a clone of a well known script? The brief instructions in the Cpanel cgi center, don't tell me much. Is it really that basic or are there further form configuration options? For example does it have an equivalent of Realname input used by matt's formmail? All of the messages appear to be from bluemail instead of the sender.
Any additional info about form configuration would be appreciated.

that was my next question, is there any way to set up bluemail so it comes in from the actual submitees email addy so they can be directly replied to?

or any other suggestions on a contact form script? preferrably one where you have to go through the deciphering letters out of a graphic before submitting.

thanks

I tried setting up a formmail clone script, but it behaves strangely. When I recieve the form results it doesn't appear to be from the sender. It always appears to be from username@box124.bluehost.com. It seem to ignore the realname and email fileds that formmails passes in the email header. This stinks...

Hi, talon39:

I answered a similar question you had on another post. How familiar are you with HTML and CGI? It seems pretty cut and dry if you know the basics but I can't assume that, of course. Do you have a sample of the page code that you are trying to pass?

Thanks. I am extremely familiar with CGI and HTML. What I have trouble believing is that the information provided on the Cpanel cgi center about how to use bluemail, is all that the bluemail script can do. It's not that I can't figure out how to get it to do anything described on that page. It's just that the things described on that page are quite limited for a form processor. If that is truly the extent of bluemails capabilities, then it has the least functionality of any form processor I have ever used. I suspect it can do more than what they have described. For example they did not provide a way to require fields. That's just one example.
Many people are opting to use a different script due to the lack of functionality/information provided by bluemail.
As stated in my other thread, I decided to try Matt's formmail, but found that some of the functionality is crippled on Bluehost.

Hi, talon39:

Well, I kind of figured that but thought I would ask... no ill will intended. :)

I've never used FormMail but, for my site, I use BNBFORM from BigNoseBird.com (http://www.bignosebird.com/). I've used that software for years with no trouble. It's nice because it also has features to keep others from trying to use your script for malicious purposes, though I made a few additional edits to cover some needs that I had. I highly recommend it.

Yes, I have heard that BlueMail is limited but, again, I wasn't sure to what extent you needed to use a form processor. It does seem limited but at least it would do the job (I think).
