Greetings,
My domain was registered through google apps for your domain. and it manages all the email accounts in my domain. I have sucessfully edited DNS records at google to route subdomains to apps I have hosted at bluehost. So far so good.
My problem has to do with sending email from the apps. On my wordpress sites, the mail is being sent from my bluehostaccout@boxxxx.bluehost.com. That's not so bad in the sense that at least people can reply to the address and it gets routed back to Wordpress. But ideally, I'd like that address to be an interaction with an email address in my domain. Is there a place in Wordpress or the cpanel that I can change this?
But my big problem is I am trying to configure osTicket to send and receive mail. It has a panel where I can define the email addresses it uses. I defined an email address in my domain and entered all the googlemail.com mail server info. (I know it's correct because I verified it by creating an account on my laptop using thunderbird and had no problem connecting to the googlemail servers)
On the osTicket panel I get a connection timed out error.
I have an open ticket with the helpdesk but thought I'd ask here as well.
Is there a FAQ or something to summarizes how the local mail servers are set up and/or what it takes to be able to use remote mail servers.
The support desk people told me they set up my account to be "remotely managed mail" but that doesn't seem to have helped the connection problem between osTicket and google mail.
