SQL Upgrade

I recently received an email about one of my Bluehost servers being upgraded to mySQL 5.5. Has anyone else gone through this process? Any downside to existing applications?

I've not received an email of that sort yet. But it only makes sense that Bluehost would eventually upgrade to the latest version at some point. They would have tested this thoroughly before doing so. Also, the upgrade would be in stages on the servers that they run to minimize problems that may creep into the process.
