I am worse than a newbie as I know very little and it is quite possible that what I think I know is inaccurate or incomplete. I found myself in a real mess trying to learn on my own and was helped to clean up my mess by bboysteele through this forum. At bboysteele's suggestion I asked Bluehost to reset my account. Now that I am back to the beginning I want to do it right. One step at a time.
I intend to use Expression Web Designer beta1 and eventually the complete version or suite as my basis for all my website development. It is free as a trial and the trial period is quite long.
After the reset Bluehost did I installed the frontpage extensions and opened expression. I have a sample website that I wanted to upload using the remote website feature.
I checked the frontpage server extensions box, which gave me an http:// heading in the box to which I was to add my domain name. There was a check box to use encrypted connection (SSL) which I did not check as I am not sure what that is yet.
A window box appeared with the following:
The server thewayofaneagle.com at Secured Frontpage on thewayofaneagle.com requires a username and password.
Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).
I entered my user ID which to my knowledge is just my domain name ( I use this to access cpanel) and my password, and it did not work.
Since I am stuck, and don't want to make things worse (as I did in the past) I am hoping someone can tell me where to go from here.
