Anybody out there successfully using Joomla, and enjoying it? Please let me know. I have installed it on my site at http://www.content.dalmatiandigital.com, but I don't want to spend a ton of time customizing it if it stinks. Please let me know if you have had a good experience with this CMS.

What is the best tutorial/getting started guide available? There seems to be quite the abundance of features, I just don't know where to start with my customizations. Also, can I see your site? I would like to see what you have done with it.

I personally have tried Drupal, then switched to Joomla, and that was my biggest mistake!
I am converting back to drupal once 4.7 is released!

i try it, an enyoj. if you don't spend a lot of time with design, it's a good choice.

Can anyone tell me of some good info on getting started with Joomla? What works best for beginners?

I've tried Joomla, wasn't too bad, but some things were kind of limited, and I quickly grew tired of it (my personal experince does not reflect the good of this backbone). I've been using wordpress (mainly because I'm used to it) as my backbone and though it has its own hangups I find it easier to work with. I've seen some pretty decent looking Joomla sites though and would recommend hitting their support forum (http://forum.joomla.org/) for help. They have a pretty decent crew of people over there and seem very helpful and willing to help the novice user.

It's an open-source (free) Content Management System, similar to PHPNuke, Drupal, etc...
You can find out more about it here (http://www.joomla.org).

Thanks for the link! So, it is like a webpage maker?

Well, I don't know if I'd call it a website maker or not. I guess it kind of, sort of is though. I don't know too much about it though. I'm a Wordpress guy. I've goofed around with Joomla, but it had way more bells and whistles than I needed. Joomla is very user friendly, and doesn't take much knowledge to get things up and running on it.

I may give Joomla a try and rebuild my webpage. I'm still very new at webpage creation. I built mine from scratch for the first time (self taught) but it lacks the professional touch. Here is a link to site. www.slipperorchidforum.com

Looks pretty good for building it from nothing. Joomla is quite an impressive tool and you'll probably benifit more from it than I did.
