Those "days" were....well......days ago, lol. I really hope BH backed up the forum but....a new start is never a bad thing. :)

It might help if there is a link on Bluehosts home page. I had to hunt and hunt to find this place again LOL My own fault for not bookmarking it.

Yep it's all your fault. *shakes fist*

haha I'm kidding, I agree it'd be easier for people who don't have BH accounts to access the forum and ask before they buy. :)

Exactly.

I remember when i was looking for a host i was almost put off of Bluehost for the simple reason of there being no forum.

As a newbie its nice to be able to see how much help they can get and how friendly the service is. THey can also get an honest idea of what people think of Bluehost :)

It is always the moderator's fault. <Grin>

It is a pretty bad advertisement for BlueHost if they can't even keep data up and running on a forum...........

But it is not the first database problem and I am sure it won't be the last........

Yea, the daily backup system should have definite been put in place before the forum was released. Well I hope the guy who forgot to do that learned a valuable lesson. Anyway it's starting to take shape again.

No where near the member count though. I bet many just got too discouraged.

I think a lot of the people on the original forums signed up but then never came back.

Also, there was a definite jump in membership this time around after last week's email from Matt Heaton that contained the reminder at the bottom.

I do think many of those original 1,000 were people who signed up and never came back, but I also imagine that many may have come back and not been able to log in after the forum crash and just decided not to bother to create a new account.

For me I lost interest after I found out BH hadn't been backing up the forum. It seemed pretty irresponsible and I had put a lot of work into answer people's questions just to have it all lost. Also, I think the fact that they only picked one moderator has bummed a lot of us. A lot of the enthusiasm in the beginning was because of this promise of picking three or four moderators.

Well, that's not the best reason to be enthusiastic about the forums!

Actually, had I been running the show, I probably wouldn't have given free hosting to any moderators; if I had, I certainly wouldn't have advertised it!

Besides, there's only one moderator, for now. If the forums grow they'll need more mods. Losing interest won't help the forums grow. :)
