Its now available for Fantastico. When will BLuehost be upgrading from the current 2.0 ?

Its a pain to have to keep manually upgrading it.

Thank you

Wordpress 2.0.1 has been out for at least a month! I don't think Bluehost has control over when fantastico is updated. There are other programs that are behind as well.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use fantastico to upgrade wordpress. Do it manually. I did an upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0 and things seemed okay at first until I tried to do an update. I'm not sure what went wrong but nothing posted even though my wordpress dashboard said it had.

I found it easier to go through the steps listed on the wordpress site concerning upgrades (http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress). If you follow these steps to the letter, your upgrade will be secure. I'm currently using 2.01 and things seem fine.

If anyone needs help through the upgrade process, I'll be glad to help. I just don't trust Fantastico anymore. Never really did, but that's beside the point.

I used Fantastico to upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0.1 and it went extremely well. Took about 30 seconds including a complete backup. I see not reason not to give it a go.

Well, I hope you don't have any drafts. Cause I had a couple and when I tried to post one it went no where.... literally. Dashboard showed it as posted, but it wasn't showing up on the main page, or in the archinves, like it was supposed to.

Heck, it may have worked fine for you. Doesn't mean it works fine for all. I'll stick to the manual way though.

The only option I see in Fantastico is to install an instance of 1.5.2

I upgraded with Fantastico from 1.5.2. to 2.0, and later from 2.0 to 2.0.1, and it all went smoothly, no problems and no drafts lost. I am very happy with Fantastico, because the manual upgrade sounds rather complicated. I just hope they will soon make an upgrade available to the latest WordPress release, version 2.0.2.

What am I missing? When I open Fantastico from the BlueHost control panel, the only option I have available for Wordpress is to do a new install of 1.5.2. I don't see any upgrade options.

Would appreciate if someone could 'undense' me.

Thanks

USed to rely on fantastico, but i have started to install everything myself. So many more options and customizations. Took me some time to get used to it, but its not too bad now.

It is generaly a bad idea to use fantastico for updating or upgrading any of the scripts that you install with fantastico. Use fantastico for the ease of install to get things happening but dont I repeat dont use it to update or upgrade any of the scripts installed with it as you are asking for trouble.
