I signed on over the weekend and have been trying to upload my site without success. The site is from iWeb and I am using a Mac.

1. I have transfered all the site files and folders to my public_html folder as per the site instructions and named my homepage "index" but when I got to the site I just get an index list of the files/folders in the public_html folder [if I click on the index.html my site opens, but it should open at the domain level; also even though the site is very small loading is SLOW]

2. Can't access Unlimited ftp - it keeps asking me for my user name and password; I enter them and it just asks me again

3. Called the helpline 3 times - each time got to the front of the queue then got cut off

Any thoughts on 1 or 2 welcome!

So far not at all impressed

You site has uploaded I was able to view it by clicking on the index.html link you will need to edit that so the site loads when someone enters the domain name.

Nice site by the way very clean and well laid out.:D

Thanks for the feedback and the compliment. The problem is I don't know what to edit. I followed the upload instructions exactly - all they say is to rename the homepage as "index" and load all the files and folders into public_html.

The site is very much a test bed - I am trying to get to grips with iWeb and Aperture.

Hi you are doing OK so far try to rename index.html to index.htm always make a backup copy first and see if that solves your problem.

Hi there, very nice site! I think your problem (am not an expert) is that all your files now have initial caps e.g index.html is actually Index.html, this is what is standing out to me so if you change the Index.html to either default.htm or index.htm (put the 'l' if you must) that might solve your problems.

....to you both - that did it; seems I did not read the instructions as well as I thought - need to dot the "i"s!

Now to finish the site

Cheers

Hopefully right after I ask this, it will click. Then I can blame my wife.
Is the folder, containing all the information for the site, supposed to be called "index.html" ? I had the folder named skoville 2 with the index.html file inside it. I keep getting the same thing as dch; the index, and have to click on the folder to open the site. (it's just a template with a couple of pics for the test)

I'm having the same problem, it seems. I tried changing my Home.html to default.html and de-capitalizing the other file names, but it still is not going straight to my webpage. Some sort of index error? Any suggestions? My website is www.modnostalgia.com

The only thing you have in your doamin is a folder called nicole. All the web pages are in that folder instead of where they belong.

Well, it works for me - your home page opens just fine so it looks like you've taken care of the problem.

Looks like it is working now. Definitely a different result from when I looked before.
