There was already a thread about this, but when too many people agreed that the service is terrible, the thread got deleted... same thing is bound to happen here...

But for what it's worth, speed has been terrible for about two days now, my site kept going offline for a few seconds every few minutes.
Other people have reported of their sites being offline for several hours at a time in the last few days.
So you're not alone.

4 hours worth of outage for me. There were at least two threads about it - those have been deleted! Nice policy to delete threads on outages / downtime

ok thanks, it was all the sudden i was a little surprised to tell you the truth. I have not had any problems at all up until now.

Deleting the threads is just unbelievable as a tactic.

4 hours now - then finally back up, for now I guess. Unbelievable. And this is just a couple months after there was an extended stretch of days / weeks where pretty much every night there was downtime. Back then it was blamed on: power outages (WTF?), a router or switch at BH (always talked about in the singular, as if basically if one device goes down or gets overloaded, it's BIG trouble). Today we are on a *half day* outage by now - and I've heard 'some services' on one server having problems, then one server, then a DDOS after a "repair" was made. These all sound like issues that any hosting company should be expected to be *prepared* for and able to react to without major downtime.

Admittedly going on the *very minimal* info you can get from BH, but all of the above sounds like an indicator of CHRONIC problems - no resiliency / redundancy / ability to react to and handle problems. My question is the same as yours Been Told - it's just Is BH able to provide anything approaching a *reliable* service that can be counted on? Is there anything approaching proper infrastructure in place to be able to provide service that can be counted on?

this was the response i just got i dont think so:

We are having our servers DDOSed so it may take time to clear that.
Our administrators are working on it.
I would give it another 30 minutes to a couple of hours to fully clear up.
Thank you.

That is the exact same response I got on the phone when I called two days ago.

It may be worth thinking about starting another forum, administrated by people other than those who work at Bluehost (and hosted outside of Bluehost, for a number of reasons). Deleting threads just so that they don't get seen by potential customers is simply unacceptable. Pruning is OK, it keeps the database running smoothly, but deleting day-old threads is just not on.

But just to clarify, I've been very happy with Bluehost for the whole 10 months that I've been with them. Sure the speed rarely goes over 50kb/s, but if I wanted super service I would have payed for it.

Just to clarify, this is a USER TO USER forum. This is NOT managed by bluehost nor it's employees. Sometimes will an admin from bluehost post a replay, but that is rare and only on thier OFF TIME. I manage it. I am not an employee of bluehost, just someone that has been with bluehost for a long time and loves the service.

Everyhost is going to have problems, but bluehost cares.

Well, nearly 24 hours now. Not a complete outage anymore, but site up & down, when up, extremely slow, services status via Control Panel shows 8 services Failed constantly - has never changed all day and night. RSS feed not accessible, mail services failing nearly half the time.

All due to an ongoing DOS and still no ETA when you call and still no status announcement. Noticed tonight that the main Bluehost web page lists 'DDOS Protection' as a feature of their hosting. Asked several times today where that is.

Also posted on the CEO's blog site ....

I have been a member of this forum for 59 days and I had always thought that this forum was owned and operated by Bluehost Inc. and that you were an employee of Bluehost Inc.

I'm unable to access my account at bluehost from yesterday (about 24h so far).
Neither HTTP/FTP, not control panel. I was told that DDOS is still continue and that many IP's were blocked due to it.
The most annoying thing in this story is absolute absense of any messages/notifications from technical support. All the information I know I got on my own initiative. I think in this situation the management team had to inform the users somehow...

I agree. That's why a proper status-page would be extremely helpfull.
But 24 hours... man that is seriously messed up!

I had chat with tech. support today and they've said that bluehost experiences very massive ddos. Yes, my account does not respond for 24 hours so far.
I'm really considering closing up my account there and finding some another hosting :(
If they had informed about this attack, it was much better. But they had not. The only way to know about this problem was to ask. This makes me angry on bluehost service.

It's the same response I got last night -- it seemed to be fine for a while - now my email is out again.
