Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help as I am very much a novice, learning by trial and error on most everything as I go. Patience please.

When I hosted with BH, I did somewhat of an abbreviation of what the website is about to help fit it on a business card. I would like to register the whole name now so that if someone was to type it out it will take them to the abbreviated site. Make sense?

For example, say my site is www.thisisms.com, but when they type out www.thisismysite.com it takes them to www.thisisms.com.

From what I've read, I believe I want "Parked Domain" for this?

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
dances

That is correct.

...Excerpt from the cpanel manual (http://bluehost.com/help/parkedDomains.htm)

You can set up a domain name that you own to point to another domain name. This is known as "parking" a domain. Parked domains must already be registered domain names that you own and configured to point to our nameservers (ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com).

Example: You own the business.co.nz and innovation.co.nz domain names. You already have a web site for business.co.nz, but you do not want to create a new web site for innovation.co.nz at the moment. By parking innovation.co.nz on top of business.co.nz, all URLs for innovation.co.nz will automatically go to business.co.nz instead.

To park a domain:

Click on the Parked Domains button on the home page.
Enter the name of the domain that you want to park in the New Domain Name field.
Click on the Add button.

So then, if I park a domain (point it to my main domain) and then, in the future, am ready to use it to create an addon domain, how do I make the parked domain an addon domain?

Then when you want to make the parked domain an addon domain, I believe you would just go ahead and follow the addon domain instructions here:

http://bluehost.com/help/AddonDomains.htm

But you may need to delete the parked domain before you make it an addon domain.

You shouldn't need to do anything to the domain name servers.

Thanks, Dave. That's what I suspected. I appreciated it!
