Hi all,

I just move to bluehost, and I install gallery through fantistico.

Even though when I browse the photo, I got a cpu high loading issue and that will disable my website for minutes. on the system side I don't see any processes that owned by me. It appears that some other ppl have the same problem.

do you know if that's a bug from fantistico? I can manually install gallery 2, but I just want to find out the real reason....hope someone can give me a advise. thanks.

I wont say that Fantastico doesn't share some blame in the problem BUT Gallery 2 is a high CPU requiring script. I'm running Gallery 2 and have never had any problems but I went through and turned off or minimized a lot of the things that are CPU intensive. Just try going through and turning off/deactivating anything that you don't need. You should also read up on how the cache system works, and how to set the thumbnails. Then go into maintenance and optimize the database.

Thanks. I will reinstall gallery 2 manually and fine tune from there.

If you do not need much in the way of (read: any) features you might try something like minigal. Or if you can deal with forming everything locally and then uploading something like jalbum is very nice.

Otherwise gallery 2 is brutal software to run on shared hosting.

I reinstall the g2, but the cpu situation is still the same.
right now I disabled most of the unnesscary modules, and don't create the thumbnail when you import the photo, it's getting better now.

i didn't release the gallery to my friend yet, so it's hard to say whether I will have the cpu issue again.

but anyway, thanks for you suggestion. I will keep an eye on the MG2.
