I create a Mailman mailing list and can't seem to make it into an unmoderated list.
Under the Sender Filters, I have the "By default, should new list member postings be moderated?" set to "No".
But, whenever a member of the list sends an e-mail, the system responds that it must be held for approval. I have to 'accept' the message before it can be delivered.
I don't want this. I want the list to be unmoderated.
Can you help me please?

We have four mailman lists in operation that we use to send out a newsletter once a month. However, I went to create a 5th the other day and had the same problem as you. During my testing phase, regardless of the options I set, the admin account had to 'accept' posts... even if a user had the moderation box unchecked.
I got frustrated and deleted the list with the intention of returning to it later. I haven't yet returned... However, it sounds like they're related problems! Have you tried deleting and starting afresh?
Cheers,
Jamie

I've since created a new list with no problems so it must have been a bug in the install. Try reinstalling and see how you go.

I messed around with the options and somehow got it to work. Unforunately, I can't tell which option was the 'answer'.
Thanks for the replies.

the members of my list can send emails without being moderated, but the problem is that the members of the mailing list receive it empty !!
one more thing:
is there a way to make all the "rich text" (bold, underlined,...) appear in a mail sent to the mailing list ?
thank you

I have been confused lately while trying to make mailman work for me. Could you please explain briefly how you did it?

Hey Ziadchaker,
When I first established some of our lists we had various issues with moderation and content appearing. My advice would be to reinstall and try again... it solved all our problems.
Yes, there is a way to make all the rich text appear... You can set it as the default option in the admin panel. You can also change whether an individual user receives rich/plain text in the member management panel.
BEWARE: Unless you configured otherwise, users may change this setting when they login to their accounts. You can stop this by editting the user options page (in source code)...

It's a very simple process. You create a list through cPanel. Then you visit the webpage that you administer the list through... Users can sign-up themselves or you can sign them up. When that's all good, send a message to list@yourdomain.com and it will be sent to everyone on the member list.
You can configure various moderation and permission settings to your liking...
If you need more help, ask a more specific question :)

Hi! In response to Frusis' last post, canyou tellme what you mean by "visit the web page you administer the list through"? When I create a list, then click on Edit, it takes me to my site's 404 page. Is there something I need to install? Isn't mailman installed already by default? I'm new to bluehost and am evaluating it for my non-profit org. So far they haven't responded to my ticket, so I'm loooking for help in the forums.
Thanks!
Chuck

I believe I've the same problem. I have a mailing list, and when one of the members send an e-mail, it needs my approval because mailman interface says that the e-mails have been sent non directly to the list. And of course it's not true.
So what you suggest is to remove and install mailman again?
it's the first time, I have a problem with mailman
Thank you very much :(
