Fax your photo id

I want to use ssh, but bluehost need us to fax the photo id for activation.
I understand this is for security reason, but I feel unsecure when I fax / email my photo id to somebody.

is that the only way to get ssh access?

yes or mail it. If your SSN is on it, just make a copy of it and block it out and fax the copy.

I scanned my drivers license and emailed it to support.

I hate the thought of them having to much info on me..but the address on the dl is the same as my billing address. The only thing the may not have had was the DL number, but that is basically publically available.
