I have to say, this is not very encouraging. I've been a Bluehost member for about a fortnight and already I've counted three outages. (I was with Modhost for two years and don't recall a single one.)
Yesterday box87 appeared to reboot itself a few times and the MySQL service took a few minutes to kick in. Today, I can only tell that it's gone down again.
And bluehost.com is down too? That can't be good for business.

I'm new to Bluehost myself, for only the past few days that I've been part of it, and many times I'm receiving connection problems and can't connect. At the moment:
Firefox can't find the server at box93.bluehost.com.

My domains were inaccessible for at least thirty minutes before I gave up checking and went for dinner. That was 45 minutes ago. I've just checked again, and thankfully they're back. I notice the forums went down as well(just after I started this thread), and also the bluehost.com site.
I called support but it was out of hours. So I pressed 9 for emergency. After five more minutes of that department's phone ringing, the line just went dead. So I rang again and pressed 9. After five minutes, it went dead again. I wonder how much that cost me? (Transatlantic phone calls being cut-off after five minutes of waiting.)
Interestingly, I did a bluehost search on technorati, and found I couldn't connect to any blogger who'd mentioned in the past that they were either a bluehost customer or migrating to bluehost.
So how many servers went down exactly? More to the point: Why? And is this acceptable on a day-to-day basis? Discuss....

I was disappointed by the recent downtime as well. I just switched from another host like a month ago, partly because of the good comments on BlueHost I read from the net. Now I experience the prolonged service down I never had with my original one.
I wish BlueHost would soon elaborate on what happened during the past few days.

Thanks for the IP address Ciaran. I just got home and found my domains were down again (error: 500). Also bluehostforum.com was unavailable. So this has been going on at least four hours today. Lord knows how long this was happening yesterday before I noticed.
Interestingly CPanel is still available and SSH access (through CPanel only) can be achieved even when our sites are inaccessible. So it's not like the actual servers are completely down.
And erm...I've just got through to bluehost support by phone (14:44GMT) as I type this (9 minute queue). Support guy says the nameservers went down and they believe the issue is now resolved. To call back if it happens again. (Er....)
Not feeling v. confident to be honest given that this problem has been reccurring not only since yesterday, but also my first post in this thread. Ie. Why do the nameservers keep going down?
Fingers crossed. Indeed fingers crossed that the nameservers haven't gone down since I started typing this message and that I'll be able to post it.
 I also had the same problem and I'm at box78...
It is unacceptable to have so many problems in a row.
Disapointed indeed...
