What are all of the costs for using e-commerce, specifically using BH packages?

I have been living abroad for more than a dozen years and I often help people obtain information or products from one side of the ocean or the other. They are usually low cost items, related to a network of orphanages that I worked with when I was in China. Payment has always been troublesome - actually, just getting the money to the right side of the world is the issue. A friend suggested that I start up an ecommerce set up to make it easier. It seems like it would help but I would like to find a summary of all of the costs, fees and charges associated with e-commerce so that I can compare what I am spending now with what I will hopefully be saving. Can someone enlighten me on those? or point me in the right direction?

If you use a CMS like wordpress and install a plugin like wp e-commerce the cost is 0 (not including your bluehost hosting fee's). Your only loss would be from the gateway you choose (e.g. PayPal or Google Checkout)
