I have a noob question.....
I have a site called www.myfirstsite.com and that site is in my filemanager under the name www
That part is ok but after I added my new addon domain it kind of looks like this www.myfirstsite.com/mysecondsite.php
so how do I make my second site seperate from my first regarding the url? I would really like to have it in my filemanager to look like www1 and www2 or something. I want to have these two sites on one server but it's starting to look like I need to buy a new account or something? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm adidng a subdomain and it's having some major URL errors. The reason why I'm asking is because I asked for help from bluehost but they told me to just google it.
I would really like some help on this one, thanks very much

you can have more than one website in your account using addon domains.
when you set up the addon domain you must indicate the folder you want to act as the root location. it sounds like you've put in a page name in there, but i could be wrong.
so in the addon domain section in control panel add myseconddomain.com
with the folder myseconddomain.
then put that website inside the folder myseconddomain.

I thought everything had to go through my www folder first? But I guess what your saying is I can create different names and just point them that way? So in the main part of my filemanager could I just drop my second site in there and just keep the same name? Then just go to my add a domain and change the folder destination from there?

the www isn't actually a folder, it's a symbolic link to the public_html folder where you main website resides. if you log in via ftp you will start in /public_html/
your addon domain will sit in the folder public_html/seconddomain
you'll see that in the control panel for addon domains the text box for putting in the addondomain folder has next to it public_html/ - that's because all addon domains will be sub folders within public_html. so you dont need to specify it again. all you need to do is tell it the folder for your new website.
hope that makes sense.

well at the moment that's exactly where it is and that's where the problem exists. My new site has that long or incorrect url...... It's like I have one mother site and all other new sites feed off that. How do I make it so each new site has their own unique url in the filemanager?

have you set up your second domain to point to the bluehost name servers?
once they have propogated then visiting www.seconddomain.com will show your new website. although it is held in a sub folder of your main site no-one will know that.
of course you can visit your site via www.myfirstsite.com/seconddomain but unless your site is flat html it wont work anyway.

oh ok so that's how it works thanks for explaining that......now I understand how it works.
So basically it's just a matter of where you point your site via sub domain or add a domain.
