Ive started an online store, and have already had a few people buy the products. But the issue I am running into is that right now they pay through paypal. But if they don't click on the return to merchant button after they pay, it doesn't get recorded in OSCommerse.
So my question is, are there any good credit card processors out there? Ive done some looking, but they fees, and transaction fees seem pretty high.

Have you checked http://www.2checkout.com .
I dont have any experience with credit card processors but i see that most of the websites use 2checkout as their credit card processor...

i use cubecart with paypal pro.
paypal pro allows me to process credit cards on my page instead of redirecting to them. the cost...
paypal pro:
- monthly fee $20
- transaction fee $0.30 + 1.9-2.9%
additional costs:
- ssl certificate $20/year [godaddy]
- dedicated IP $30/year
total per month: [b]$24.17 + transaction fees
i don't make any profit on this yet, but i think in the long run it makes a better impression on the customer and eventually will cover the cost (i just started my online business)

EDIT
actually zubair, thanks for the link ..... this seems to be a nice way of doing transactions .... i will have a closer look at those guys, they claim to integrate nicely with cubecart (and also oscommerce) ..... if the customer doesn't realize that he is switching servers during the transaction, then i might give them a try :)

I use viaKlix which was offered through my local bank. The monthly fees and transaction fees are similar to those mentioned above. There is a viaKlix contribution for osCommerce that works great.
I also allow people to pay via PayPal using the PayPal IPN contribution for osCommerce. It is surprising to me how many of my customers choose to use that option - probably about 50% or so.

cool. Thanks for the replies. I have that Paypal contribution installed. and I figured if I ever get a real credit card processor, I would still leave Paypal. But wanted to get the ability to keep people on my site instead of sending them off to paypal.

My site (http://www.terrakeramik.com is integrated with AuthorizeNet, probably the largest payment gateway. Fees are competitive. You can integrate both for local checkout (customers stay on your site, you need SSL) and with remote checkout (customer is transferred to AuthorizeNet secure site). AuthorizeNet is available through a number of resellers (I used e-onlinedata). AuthorizeNet has a nice merchant interface and allows you to download account data into QuickBooks (free). For the shopping cart, I used WebAssist's eCart (integrates with all major payment gateways).
Good luck!

Hi -
Just thought I'd add my 2 cents! :)
I've used several processors in my retail store and Authorize.net for our gateway for our internet business. There seems to be no end to the fees that processors charge and they add up fast. Don't be fooled by checking just just for the lowest per-transaction and swipe rates! If that is really all PayPal Pro is charging per month with no required minimum transactions I'd be SUPER interested because it's a great deal! Somehow, I think there's got to be more fine print.
You've got to check out several things besides the monthly fees, percentage rates, and transaction rates. With a merchant account and gateway you also have to check out the AVS fees, daily batch processing fees, extra AmEx rates and fees, Discover rates and fees, monthly minimum requirements, non-qualified fees, security fees.... The list is endless.
Make sure you read ALL the fine print in your contracts. We were severly burnt with fees by a couple of mechants before we wised up. Now, since we started the online business, we have more to learn about the fees that the gateway adds on top of the merchant's fees. They add their own batch fees, per-transaction fees, and monthly fees.
Of the two providers we are currently using (we have two business - one is brick and morter only, the other is both) we are definately happier with Express MPS. They worked hard to get our business and (a MAJOR plus) their statements with all their fees are easy to understand. I wish I would have used them for our online business.... and one day, when my contract is up with Leeders, I will.
Ultimately, you've got to have the service. And you just can't get away from the fees. It's part of business. So - go for it and learn. It's really not to bad! :} Thankfully, our processors have always been very helpful with the set ups. Of course - they're getting my money.... I would hope they are. **grin**

Now is the best time to hook up with Google for credit card processing.
A -> you should be using some form of ppc program. Google rewards you for using adwords and using google checkout for processing.
B -> lowest rates
C ->no fees until 2007 ;)
And chances are your orders aren't being updated due to an API error. (Do you have SSL enabled, and oscommerce enabled for SSL? Does paypal require a special account to use SSL? -> some questions to ask yourself)

the problem I've encountered is I'm in Japan and some online companies have said well if you're not from the US you will have to pay a $299 fee plus $49 a month and since your intl another $15 bucks!!!! I'm no Amazon here and really can't afford those fees.
But recently my shop has started to take off and I'm starting to think maybe I should use an other online credit company besides Paypal. That 3.9% interest is killing meeeeeeeeee. I sell Japanese reels and some of them are $800USD. When you're doing a perecent of the product price I get hit hard.
So in your opinion what online credit card company should I go with besides Paypal? Of course that paypal pro sounds like the better way to go for me....

ive signed up for Google Checkout. I also downloaded a payment module for OSCommerse for Google checkout. I followed the direction, and installed it. I turned it on, and entered the 2 keys provided by google, but it doesn't show up as a payment option. But it also doesn't give any errors either.
Anyone know what could be wrong?

Hey Woody theres many great credit card processing (http://www.cardservicesales.com/) companies. Acquiring the perfect one for your needs is the hard part. Try google.com or whitepages.com to find some merchant processors. If you still need help with card processors let me know.

hi Three sisters
Does your payment gateway has a virtual terminal?
I am trying to find a payment gateway with the lowest cost. One that will not rip me off with unexpected rates. Any other recommendations, other than Express MS?
Authorize.net seems to be the most trusted gateway in US, but needs to have physical location in US. I am located in Canada.
Is there another trusted payment gateway for Canadian businesses, besides Authorize.net?

Hi there,
I actually ended up PAYING to get out of a BAD deal and have switched to PayPal. I've been very happy with it. It is very straight forward. No hidden fees AND they REFUND the fees if you issue a refund! (Most processors CHARGE you another percentage for a refund!) PayPal does have a virtual terminal. Check them out - you'll probably like them.
Smiles,
Allison
