Objective

Time was I could and had verified my sites with the Google sitemap site and now they are returning the 500 Internal Server Error.
I am using the empty html file approach (name is precise, content is empty) and no luck. Anyone who could offer an insight into what I've done wrong gets my thanks !

Interesting that I am not alone in this.
I have checked the filename and extension ad nauseum it is precise. Also the content is utterly blank, so I am totally baffled. Google gives the identical file ID information for main domain and subdomains, and I have placed the same file in each root
ie.
public_html/domain1/googlefile.html
public_html/domain1/subdomain/googlefile.html
etc.
Have not raised a BH ticket on this since I presumed it was a google problem. Maybe I should query the Goog? Or is there merit in raising a BH ticket ?
PS If I or anyone else gets a solution to this let's put it in this thread for other community members who might have the same (bad) experience.
