Lately when I try to connect to my site via FTP using WS FTPPro, I get this message "Your bandwidth usage is restricted" and the transfer rate is way slow (I have DSL). Sometimes the ls even fails. Is this a client problem, an ISP problem, a bluehost restriction?

I'm having the same problem. Does anyone at BH know anything about this?

See the last part of this post. (http://www.bluehostforum.com/showpost.php?p=14329&postcount=21)

Purportedly supposed to affect ftp download only, but my http downloads are also being limited to < 640kbps. This is really getting pitiful.

I have been using the Bluehost Unlimited FTP with few problems, until now. I also get the "230-Your bandwidth usage is restricted" message and wondered about it. I THINK it is related to the overall work load of Bluehost, as it is now the Sunday night after Thanksgiving, and lots of people on the net, but I don't know that for sure.

I would like more information about this, if anyone has it.

Has anyone asked BlueHost support?

I have not bothered because it does not appear to impact my FTP uploads. I only checked Filezilla's log messages after reading this thread.

Cute FTP has no problems upload or download. The only restrictions at Bluehost is if you try to overload the up/download - the server thinks you're trying a DOS. I only do about 10-15 files at a time.
