I just want to verify that I'm doing this correctly.

I have a site: www.mysite.com

I created a subdomain mysub

In the redirect page, I chose to redirect my subdomain to: www.mysite.com/mysub

Wanted to make sure this was the correct was to redirect.

when you create a subdomain you can access it in 2 different ways.

http://www.yoursite.com/subdomain or http://subdomain.yoursite.com

I have a few subdomains set up and I didn't even have to redirect them. Either way seems to work for mine.

Alright. I was under the impression that after I created the subdomain in the control panel, I needed to redirect it to the appropriate place. Did I miss something?

No, I don't think you missed anything. Basically all you have to do in cpanel is name your subdomain and that's it. It may take a little while for you to access it though because it has to aggregate and all. Usually only takes about a couple of hours, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. I've never had to redirect any of mine and they work just fine with the above examples I made.
