I am getting tired of Spamassassin's seemingly inability to catch some of the new spam. I signed up for the new premium spam filter, but so far it's pretty lame. I have a trouble ticket, but BH doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to respond to it (the ticket number is 442431 if anyone at BH is looking, more than a week old). I saw a reference to Dspam in one of the forum postings.

It seems interesting, but the discussions I have read are way over my head. I know enough about Linux to put a second hard drive in my Tivo.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of installation on a shared hosting service? Is it possible to install this and test it without disturbing the email accounts already hosted?

I can come close to getting it installed, using IMAP folders and procmail, but I get some strange errors (bounce messages are sent to back senders, even though the messages are received). I am about to go on some travel for week, and won't be able to look at this for a little while, but I am going to try and get mine working. I too am disappointed in the "premium" anti-spam product. My spamassassin setup is grabbing twice as much spam as the premium, and the premium has yet to catch a spam that spamassassin missed.

I don't know if the premium spam filter has even stopped any of my spam. I'm on a mac and just installed SpamSieve and it's doing a great job. Now I've paid twice.

Unfortunately that's not a consideration. I am trying to filter spam for two domains before it gets to the client. Currently, Mozilla Thunderbird is doing a better job than the premium spam service.
