hot link enabled?

hey all -

i've read recently that folks questioned the status of hot linking protection, stating that it was/wasn't working...

...my question: I have myself "enabled" hot linking protection through cPanel, but was wondering how can one really tell if it is working? Is there a test for me to apply to confirm this?

If you're using Firefox, you can download the RefControl extension, which allows you to set the referrer to any value you wish. Set this to any string of characters not containing your domain name, then direct your browser directly to any hotlink-protected image.

Alternatively, you can go to http://altlab.com/hotlinking.html and use their online test.
