View Full Version : TinyMCE Broken in Joomla

The TinyMCE Editor has been broken in one of my Joomla sites for several months. I finally upgraded to 1.0.11 thinking that would fix it, and it did but only for a short time (a few page edits).

Firefox loads the TinyMCE applet fine, but some of the buttons don't work--namely HTML. I am able to save page edits in Firefox.

IE doesn't load the applet properly. It shows an error.
Line: 3520
Char: 5
Error: Access is denied
Code: 0

Using IE, the page cannot be saved, applied or closed--none of the buttons in the upper-righthand corner work.

Has anyone seen this problem and know a fix?

Thanks

I had the same problem. I went to joomla.org and found that you should type http://www.yourdomain.com/administrator in the address bar of IE and not just www.yourdomain.com/administrator. Something about the namespace.

Try the JCE Editor. I love it a lot, especially for use in FireFox and for my clients who are on a Mac.

Some mambots running on the same page as TinyMCE can cause it to break. I recommend disabling your mambots and seeing if it then works correctly. If so then reintroduce them one at a time until it breats again. You will then know what the cause of the problem is.

Also open your browser's error logging window and see if any errors are being thrown up when you try to load and use TinyMCE. If errors do appear then Google these errors as you will often find others with the same errors and often a way to fix the problem.

And I second JCE Editor. It is a very nice open source (free) editor for Joomla and has some very nice advanced features including an image manager.
