View Full Version : Not seeing my site
I am a newbie. I launched my site www.mathsupporter.com on 2nd jan. From today onwards I can not see my site. I am getting page can not be displaced message. Also I can not upload my remainimg pages from my HTML editor because i can not access to FTP client. But fom the cpanel (unlimited FTP) I am able to upload files.( that also I didn't not see because my sever is down) I didn't change any of my ftp settings. Why this happend?
Any help appreciated

I'm currently experiencing the same problem - can't access page (Page cannot be displayed etc.). I've done a WHOIS which states that the domain information cannot be found. FTP clients from my computer will not work either. But all can be accessed through CPanel as normal.
I assume from all of this that the bluehost DNS must be down and inactive.
Another day left twiddling my thumbs then :(
Let me know if any changes occur!

Hi Math,
It's 0815 CST in the US, and I see your site fine.
Stonks?
Without your site URL, I can't check it for you.
(I'm just a user...looking for other answers)

Stonks,
If you're still having trouble, post your web URL, and perhaps someone out here can help.
Or call the 800# to contact BlueHost.

To both original posters: just to make sure it isn't simply a problem with the DNS server that your ISP uses, try switching your PC or router to use the DNS servers of the OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com) folks: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.
(Edit- mathsupporter, your site pops up instantly for me, so fast it's as if it's on my own hard drive, and not a continent away!)

Mathsupporter,
I checked your link late last night and it wasn't working. But it seems to be working this morning. And it loads fast!
Yes my site is working from last 12 hours or so...
But i received this message from BH support.
"It looks like the domain www.mathsupporter.com has not yet propigated to the DNS. You can use the IP address to log into the server. And then your problem will be resolved.
When I clicked on the IP address I am still getting no site is configured at this addresss when I can see my site, www.mathsupporter.com.
What is this? I didn't understand. I am totally new to this field.

I'd say don't worry about it. If you type in www.mathsupporter.com and the site comes up, then that's all you have to worry about.
:p in math, there is one absolute answer. In web development, there can be several answers- as long as you can support the answer.
Which brings me to a problem I had to solve a few days ago, Mr. Math.
I created a slide show for a client. A total of nine slides. Now, the client did not like the order of slides...I had to bust out the pencil and paper to solve:
Slide 8 should be slide 2, slide 6 should be slide 3, eliminate slide 7. Otherwise, keep the same order.
What is the current position of the old slide 5?

When I clicked on the IP address I am still getting no site is configured at this addresss when I can see my site, www.mathsupporter.com.You can use that IP address to get into the server to do maintainance, but not to get to the website the way a normal viewer would. In simple terms, this is because we're all on shared servers, so that IP address covers 1000 different domains.
When a new domain is created, it sometimes takes a few days for the "name" information to get propagated out to all the DNS servers out there. By the time you read this, virtually everyone in the world should be able to get to your site using the www.mathsupporter.com name, and you won't have to worry about it again.

Haha 1000 is a little high, its closer to 20, but either way your ip would be something like 0.0.0.0:2802~mathsupp/cpanel (or something like that) you should have gotten it in an email when signing up. Anyways it works just fine now so I wouldn't worry about it math. Also Early, Virtually half the population doesn't have internet ;)

Not even close. My box, right now, is carrying 983 domains. And that's fairly typical. Where did you get the idea that there were only 20 domains per server? With over 220,000 domains hosted, that would mean that Bluehost would have over 11,000 servers!

where do you guys see what box you are on and how many domains there are? I looked on my cp and didn't see anythingThe box number is easy. On the CP, look at the Shared IP Address. Your box number is the last octet of that IP address. So, if it's 71.123.45.65, you're on box 65.
The number of domains is trickier. I use http://www.domaintools.com. If you register (free), you can use the Reverse IP tool. You plug in your shared IP address, and it tells you how many domains point to it.
Now the problem is resolved.
Thanks for all your support
