I can't fix this, I'd need the shell. Something is wrong with /usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so my guess is, it was improperly installed last, its causing my site to crash every 10 minutes or so.

I don't know what IonCube is, I didn't install it, I've never heard of it.
All I know is a new version came out about the time my website started crashing. This is not acceptable, and its very disappointing.

These two lines tell the entire tale.
Bluehost: So long as it's taking our sites offline for multiple hours each day, I could care less about the speed increase this "fastphpd" offers. Either fix the problem or cut it out at its source -- SOON! As is, the service here is completely unacceptable. Production servers should UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES be used as your experimental testbeds.

USER TO USER FORUM!!! BLUEHOST DOES NOT COME HERE! This has been posted before and if you just would contact support by email, chat or phone preferable and they will fix it for you.
No one here on this forum can do anything for you.

Been there, done that. capitolh has as well. Support has only been willing to confirm the existence of the problem, which does none of us any good.
Getting the word out is the key here. When Bluehost receives their 100th call about fastphpd (as opposed to "that '500' error"), perhaps *then* they'll take action. In the meantime, outside of switching hosts, this is clearly my only remaining recourse.

With all due respect, while this is a user to user forum, it is still nice to find out if you are the only one having a particular problem. As I posted in another thread, I've jumped through the hoops and posted the ticket, tried the chat, and still not getting a response. No, I haven't called yet, but I don't see where that means I can't look to see if others are having the same problem, or respond with a "me-to" to someone else asking the same question. I don't post here expecting it to be a means to make BH respond and fix the problem, but merely to find out if anyone else is having the problem.
Also, believe it or not, I actually did a search on "fastphpd" before I posted, and there are no other threads that came back with that as a result, so if it was posted before, it has either been deleted, or the search function doesn't work correctly.
I also think it is unfair to suggest that no one on the forum can fix it for us. While they certainly don't have access to the servers to fix it, other users may be able to provide specific guidance on what was done to fix a similar (or the same) problem in the past.

it's there! The search functions apparently does not search in the [code] boxes.
If you'd like to post that you're also having problems, then by all means go for it. I never said that you couldn't did I?
If you look at the most recent posts in the general area, you will find posts that talk about this and other have found help from support.
Complain here all you want, but it's not going to get fixed. And now that you found out that others have the same problem, you're still not any better off.

So all three of these programs have been 'installed' for my website, I'll tell you if that fixes the problem, I actually found one bluehost support tech who seemed to atleast know partially what he was doing. Its 12:12AM here and i have school tomarrow, I'm out of here. I'll send an update later on whether it fixed my site or not.

Yeah it seems to have fixed the problem, he fixed ioncube on my website, and installed zend optimizer, and fixed fastphpd and now everything seems to be running smooth. (I'm not even running php on my site, but with all three programs constantly crashing it seems to have confused apache) Everything seems fine now.

I wouldn't mind trying my luck with someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

I've called support on occassion, most recently for something very similar to this type of thing. First level support reported to 2nd tier support with me on the phone and within 30 min. I was fixed.
The "been there done that" comment may be valid, but if you get a rep that seems less than helpful, either just call back or ask to speak with their supervisor. I've always had good luck with this method, and never lost my temper or even become tempted to do so. I've always been treated with courtesy and respect.
It helps that I am able to identify myself as somebody who knows a little about servers, and it helps more if I can clearly outline what I've tried to remedy the situation myself. It helps still more if I can give an exact date/time/error message or results of my troubleshooting. That way they don't have to duplicate my efforts.
I know it's frustrating - sure hope you get it resolved soon!

Unfortunately, they do NOT fix it even after few *very polite* complaints. It seems that it's time to make use of "30-day money back gurantee"...

Hello,
Since 2 weeks I have a site by bluehost but since yesterday my site once in a while don't open and give me the following error:
500 Server Error
A misconfiguration on the server caused a hiccup. Check the server logs, fix the problem, then try again.

thank you :o
I got this error, but not only!
Also 15-30 minute downtimes 1-5 times a day...
It'e impossible!!!
BlueHost do something!
I google my errors and found that their's a thread with my host (bluehost) about it. So seems I'm not alone.
I run hobby websites and if their's an error with a page of mine I can tell as it will list it's location, but these I got nfi about...
[notice] cannot use a full URL in a 401 ErrorDocument directive --- ignoring!
and
Failed loading /home/username/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so: /home/username/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
and
Failed loading /<path>/ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so: /<path>/ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Its all bull**** to me. The more I learn about servers and using cPanel, the more flaws and bad stuff I'm finding about Bluehost :(
I'm the sort of person that would keep on trying to fix everything until their are 0 errors, as errors aren't good. But those errors listed above, are they the result of something I've done or not?
The 401 could be, I'm not sure. But ioncube, I've never heard of until I saw it in my error logs
And also FastCGI broke all php of all my sites recently. Bluehost told me to check my error logs. The thing is though, every single site using a php page no matter how complex or simple wasn't working. I was left on my own :( I disabled FastCGI Acceleration for php and it was all working again

Entries in the Main Error Log on cPanel are errors for the entire server, ones that haven't been identified with a particular account. So, you'll see stuff in there that has absolutely nothing to do with you.
I was on one box where someone had some rubyonrails configuration problems, and the Main Error Log was always full of all sorts of rubyonrails warning messages. I don't use rubyonrails, so I knew those messages weren't mine!
The only way to prevent those kinds of errors is to restrict all users to loading nothing but static HTML pages, and not giving them shell access. Is that what you want?
