EDITED POST: DISASTER AVERTED BY UNINSTALLING OPENSEF

Shortly after posting this - in desperation - I decided to try removing components and see what happened. Immediately I removed OpenSEF my images returned, links worked again, and although the iJoomla component is not showing the right page, it no longer says the page doesn't exist...

So problem solved...

On Wednesday I used Fantastico to upgrade 6 Joomla sites to V1.0.12. At first I was cautious and backed up files etc, but after 5 apparently successful upgrades with no problems I assumed it was a straightforward process and only saved the modified template folder of the 6th site.

Bad mistake...

Almost all the images have vanished from pages and although visible on the back end, nothing shows except the filename on my site. If you delete the images and try to replace them with new ones the problem persists. Permissions are fine and the images are all there if you check the path - they just don't show.

One of the iJoomla magazine pages (overview of Services) has vanished and if clicked on gives me:

The page you are trying to access does not exist.
Please select a page from the main menu.

Various links if clicked just refresh the page you are on...

All in all it is a mess, and the site is now virtually unusable.

The Fantastico recovery message says that if you don't have SSH access ask Support to help you restore the old settings. I posted a ticket but no response.... Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get help of this type from Bluehost? They respond rapidly enough to other emails... As the site is important I'm feeling rather on edge at the lack of response and inability to do anything.

No response to my post on the Joomla forum either - so there seems no way at present to sort out the problems with the current version...

The problem site is running Open SEF - unlike the other sites I upgraded - and iJoomla - which was installed but not used on one other site which seems OK. I can't think of any other differences...

Does anyone have any thoughts on :
1. What I can do to sort out the mess?
2. whether and how long it is likely to take Bluehost to respond and help restore the old settings?
3. whether I can restore the old settings myself without SSH access?
4. any other helpful suggestions?

Thanks!

Frances

Thanks for the heads up Frances. I have several to upgrade and all use OpenSEF, Communitiy Builder and JACL. Talk about a headache! I'll be careful.
