View Full Version : Put in Fantastico, changed my mind and now my old CMS won't load
That's pretty much the problem. I first installed Dragonfly - no problem, no issues. Went up fine and was functional but then I decided to try another CMS because changing themes in Dragonfly was a pain (I'm pretty inexperienced).
I put in Fantastico, tried to install Xoop and failed miserably. Decided to go back and now I can't install Dragonfly. I get an Error message that's from the CMS files but I can;t seem to reinstall Dragonfly.(www.harajukucafe.com)
Someone please help! I am totally lost here. This is my first site and my first time with PHP so yes, I am a total idiot.
All help is welcome. Thanks!

Hi Earl,
You installed Xoop from Fantastico on top of your Dragonfly installation? Is that right? What are your error messages?
My advice is start over. Especially if you know the SQL data used to install Dragonfly. Just go into the control panel and use the file manager to wipe out the directories you installed (JUST the ones you installed) and get rid of any "index.php" or "install.php" files. Then re-upload your dragonfly and re-install it.
Sound reasonable?
I totally removed the Dragonfly files before I tried to use Fantastico to add Xoop.
When I went to reinstall Dragonfly, I took all the fantastico files out as well as the whole public_html file.
I thought I got everything but I guess not.
How do I get Blue host to reset my folder to the original contents so I can try again?
Forgot to say "thanks".
How do I get a list of what was in the original account?
When I back up those files, should I keep a copy of all those files on my computer or just the website files?
I know these seem like total amateur hour questions but - wait for it -
I"M A TOTAL AMATEUR!
Thanks again Schelly.

Hey Earl,
Oh my -- well you do have to have a public_html directory. I think what I'd do at this point is ask (live chat or phone support) to have your domain backup restored if you didn't back up your own domain first before you started.
It's possible that this would be faster and more reliable for you because BH may have files in there that have special permissions or, worst case scenario, you might re-upload backed up files in the wrong format (binary or ascii).
I think I'd leave it for BH to correct the situation and go from there. And don't feel bad. This is a learning experience. You'll take huge lessons away from this. Everybody starts somewhere.
:)
P.S. You're welcome!

What errors are you getting when attempting to install dragonfly?
