Zen Cart

Hi ~

The bluehost telephone system isn't working ~ your computer won't answer the beeps for Sales or Tech Support it just says "Good-bye." Sigh.

I need to know which root directory or file to upload ZenCart into. I let it decide and it just disappeared into nothingness. Help....please !! ;)

Permission issues seem to be a problem between myself and the ZenCart....it is requiring permissions 777 yet, even when set at 777, mine are showing 755 ~ why is that and is it normal for that to over-ride and reset to a non-777 ?????????????????

you shouldn't have files or directories set to 777. That's how hackers get in. Zencart should still install on 775.

777 gives everyone in the world permission to write to that file or directory. 775 only gives the owner, such as you or PHP running under your account to write to that file.

I am not certain if you mis-typed above, 775 is not what I am seeing (as in the above ^^^^)

Unfortunately, I am just doing exactly what the zencart instructions tell me to do ~ it wants all 777 ???????? bluehost doesn't allow that, which is more than fine with me, but I can't get an install mode to happen with the settings as they are now.

Make sure the directory "public_html/zencart" is at 775 and any other file within the zencart direcerty that the instructions call for.
