Can anyone tell me when this email (below) comes into play, because it aint happened yet!! Dated 19th 01-07

Dear Bluehost.com Customer,

We finally have some good news to report. After literally months of research into
system performance techniques and I/O tuning we have rolled out a series of changes
to our servers that have immediate and beneficial effects. By the time you read this
the server that hosts your website should have a decreased server load of between
100-300%. This means that for those users that experienced constant performance
problems with our server speeds that your problems should be significantly reduced.

Of course this isn't a magic bullet, and we still have servers that have load spikes and
other various problems and issues that go hand in hand with providing shared hosting
services. We should have more good news to report in the coming weeks and there
is still much to be done to provide better uptime with fewer interruptions to critical services.

Also, as many of you may know a few months back we leased a new datacenter that is
solely for our use and is only 200 yards from our offices. It will allow us to grow to nearly
2,000 servers before requiring additional space. This is a huge long term benefit for us
as almost all hosting companies outsource their servers to a datacenter that is not under
their control. The downside is that it has been painful as we move all our servers to this
location. Downtime and unforeseen problems have been a big part of this migration process.
I wanted to let you know that the end is in sight. Most of the servers have been moved,
and all of the mission critical portions of our network have now been moved. Most of our
intermittent downtime has been because of this enormous move.

Things are improving and long term problems are starting to subside. Thanks for sticking
with us as we look forward to the continuation of improvements that are sure to come!

Thanks,
Matt Heaton / President Bluehost.com

As soon as they sent out the emails. Everything Matt talked about has already happened. If you're still experiencing problems then you'll have to contact support.

areid,

Support takes care of problems once they arise, if they can. Problem is the problems keep on coming.

Yes, I noticed the increase in performance since that e-mail, but other things happened too. For example the latest outage, and now Fantastico doesnt work because of apperant upgrade.........

Tell you this, a day after I signed up I read a lot of bad stuff on here, and I was considering lunarpages, but because they don't have anonymous FTP, I decided to stick around.

Well guess what? BH dont have anonymous FTP either. That's right guy, what you PEOPLE call anonymous FTP is fake!!! And I can't use it.

Best of luck with whatever is going on, and I hope things improve soon, otherwise I'll take a chance with lunarpages, they offering 26 buck coupon, so why not.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need some of these features to be unlimited? Are you setting up sub-accounts for other people?

Right now, I barely use 1% of my account's capacity.

But, to each their own, of course... :)

It be nice to provide my users with username.domain.com, so they could have their own page to talk about their projects....

Unlimited email and ftp goes with that.....

As far as unlimited domains that is useful too, if you opening more than one business... But yes, I see your point, 6 businesses will be a lot by itself.. So I guess its good for yourdomain.com, .org, .net, etc. So you dont get impresonated.

Hi, agcssautomotive.com:

Yes, I certainly see why someone would want to have more than six domains if they plan to host multiple sites on one account. Not knowing how you have your site indexed, you might still be able to accomplish the username.domain.com by instead going with www.domain.com/username as some hosts use for people with simple web site hosting needs. To be honest, that seems more along the lines of where my long-ago web pages were found.

My guess is that BlueHost is simply trying to discourage deviant site owners who want to set up accounts that will, in the end, crash servers and cause headaches for the rest of us. Of course, not being deviant, I don't know what that entails. :D
