I appreciate comments and feedback (positive or negative) on my site, as I am trying to improve it all the time. I also would like help on how to use Frontpage 2003 to create "user profiles" where my students can log on to visit "private" things like billing, schedules, and practice assignments.
Thank you,

http://jayprickett.com:my main personal site and blog.
I had some other stuff set up, but I recently tore most all of it down. For example, I erased one of my WP installs (http://ofvarieddelights.com) and redirected that site to Tumblr, a neat little blogging tool that I love. I got rid of my unused MediaWiki install and a whole bunch of Fantastico stuff that I set up back when I was tryingout everything that Fantastico had to offer.
I also still have a half finished site (http://chadandlori.com) I did for my sisters wedding. She never gave me any copy to put up on the site so I never finished it. Probably tear it down soon.

Hey BucHum,
Cool idea you have as there are many kids just starting out in the music business that need support groups. After all, it's one of the most difficult businesses to break into and succeed at.
My site's dedicated to the same type of service with the exception that it's a general focus whereas yours is targeting hip hop. Our site is still in several states of disrepair and many of the links are not set up as of this time but feel free to take a peek at it. (http://www.invisableworld.net/index_temp_b.html)
I've spent the last week trying to decide whether or not to use Joomla but I find it to be quite confusing. So far, everything I've done with our site has been done using Dreamweaver. There is a phpbb board which is operational but I'm about to convert it to SMF just bcz SMF is much easier to modify and for my money, it looks much better.
Good luck with you site and maybe somewhere down the road, we can work together.

Well it is for me anyways. haha. I'm running SMF and I like it a lot. Yeah for sure we can do something in the future, like maybe colloborate and try something new. :D

I want to design like your main page of the site www.dongthapcomputer.com

Thanks in advance
I'm loving Wordpress... really the simplest CMS I've used so far. I write a lot and my "organization" style is chaotic, so a bunch of wordpress sites on the various topics I'm interested in helps me keep track of my research and links of websites I find useful. I recently move 2 of my sites to bluehost 3 more will be moved as well, if you have a heavily viewed website bluehost's service is with out a doubt impeccable.
I am the creator of Ultimate Edition (http://ultimateedition.info/Ultimate_Edition_1.7/#screenshots) a linux distro based on Ubuntu Linux. <-- this site is not hosted through bluehost yet (already paid for the month, will be next month), however if you download it that site is hosted through bluehost I have seen up to 3/4 of a TB used in 1 day and has not gone down once. The software repository is also hosted through a separate bluehost account.
Check it out
EDIT: I will let all know that Bluehost could not handle the traffic even with 2 separate accounts on seperate IP's, but did indeed send out Terabytes of info in the week or 2 that I utilized their service and earn kudos for that. They were good about it and fully refunded my money, they are a great company. I have big traffic problems, something shared hosting can not handle (even times 5). Do not take my review as bad bluehost is great, tell them to add dedicated hosting ;)

I like the site layout you have, it's pretty clean. The only suggestion I'd have is to incorporate some web 2.0 goodness into it. I like to make my sites clean by gradients and rounded corners and ALOT of CSS :P
My layouts tend to look like this:
http://www.bubblesnaps.com/ ( this site is not mine this is just an example)
It's fairly easy to do with photoshop and if you want help in learning photoshop:
www.good-tutorials.com is probably the best site I've learned from.

yea i know how to do a little CSS and I am deccent at photoshop, Maya is more my Forte when it comes to graphic design. But I am more of a die hard old school person if you can tell...tables tables tables...and BAM 2 iframes :)
but I've been looking into CSS a little more for the entire design, not jst styling the links and fonts of a regular HTML page. Infact I have been tweaking a layout using CSS and xhtml for about a month now, I'll have to upload it and show it to you to see what you think about it.
But it uses the now trendy gradiants, and <div></div> tags that are becomming popular among website designers.
Plus the great thing about it is the content is easily crawled by google and other bots, which websites show better relevance when searching for things. So i can see why so many people are trying to convert over to it.
But it will be hard to break the habit of building tables from scratch for menus and setting an iframe in the middle for content so you only have to edit content frames instead of making changes to every page of the site when you update a single link in your navigation.
Thanks for your comment on my site though, greatly appreciated.

Hi
I am new customer here , my site City24mart.com (http://City24mart.com) for Vietnamese people only, but I have plan to build another site to sell good made from vietnam for international customer. How do you think?
7egend
03-28-2008, 04:56 AM
Why don't you just combine the two sites into one and have the vietnamese goods for international customers instead of having one site of vietnamese goods for vietnamese, and another site for vietnamese goods for international customers. Seems like no matter what your target audience would be the same, plus you are splitting your customer base in half by having 2 sites, where you can have one and have your full customer base, which would cut down on updating times, which inturn saves you money, cause your time is money.
As for the site, i don't like being mean or anything, but it seems somewhat bland, and the hotlinking the picture from another site "the hot girl" I wouldn't suggest doing that, the person who owns the picture could rename it and you would end up with a dead picture on your front page which makes it look like you do not maintain your site. Which could hurt business.
All in all you have a good site though, you have a target audience with a specific interest. Hope you make a lot of money :)

Thanks 7egend for your comment, my site is still in design phase , so that reason you see only some demo products and pictures.
And I want to split 2 sites because of many different things such as payment methods and delivery methods b/w local and international customer, example with local customers , they usually accept only COD payment or bank transfer method or some special method which maybe make confuse for international customers.
Anyway , I am actually new in this market ( E-Commerce ) , so I always appreciate all people comments and eager to learn from your experience .
Thanks a lot.

One of my Bluehost hosted sites is an Internet marketing blog where I rant a lot about all things Internet related:
http://www.internetmarketingbadger.com
Unfortunately it's a WordPress blog and I just saw in another thread that Bluehost won't be offering support for Fantastico up ahead - so how am I going to keep my blog secure now? Hosting providers need to understand that not everybody is a programmer type. A lot of us are writers or marketers or designers who have to push our way through a huge amount of technical information just to start launching basic sites, and Fantastico made installing WordPress blogs extremely simple.
They're encouraging people to install using SimpleScripts instead, which I'm sure will be fine for new blogs - but what about those of us who have older blogs and need continual support for the latest WordPress updates due to ongoing security issues with each version of WordPress?
Bums me out! :)

That's why BH is ditching Fantastico - Fantastico is always a few versions behind on everything.

Hi Early Out,
So the solution is to leave users who have older blogs installed with Fantastico completely high and dry? From what I understand it isn't that simple to switch over to a manual or SimpleScripts installation once your blog has been set up using Fantastico. Fantastico might be a few months behind with updates, but it does seem to get there eventually. For us Fantastico users that's better than nothing! :) Because it seems like if you completely phase out Fantastico you're going to have thousands of users who have installed WPress with Fantastico and from then on - if I understand this correctly - they will never be able to update to a newer version unless they do so manually or reinstall using SimpleScripts. Is that correct?
I'm just speaking for the many, many bloggers like me who aren't talented with manual installs and have hosted our sites at Bluehost solely for your Fantastico install being available for WordPress blogs.
If you check out the Internet marketing forums, there are TONS of us.
So I'm just asking if we'll be given any help or support in the future for dealing with our blogs and keeping them secure? I would think that this would interest Bluehost because don't you want sites hosted here to remain secure?
Believe me, I like Bluehost, but I'm concerned about this whole Fantastico issue and the ease of migration to updating my blogs using something else. You need to let your current users know about your plans to phase out Fantastico, too - because I for one have brought you some new hosting signups as an affiliate solely because people were looking for good hosting that also had the Fantastico install for WordPress blogs - and they're not going to be happy.

For openers, this is a user-to-user forum, not a BH support site. The moderators here are not affiliated with BH in any way. So, we can't answer for what BH has done, or is going to do.
It's my understanding that BH will be providing a migration path to go from Fantastico to SimpleScripts. There are some threads on here that describe how to do it yourself, and it's just not a big deal. But even if they don't provide an automated migration script, installing WordPress is simple enough that you really shouldn't need any hand-holding to do it manually.
Yeah I've managed to upgrade my 2.3 Fantastico installs to 2.5 with the manual upload/upgrade.
Its not terribly difficult, just make a backup and follow the directions from wordpress.org. It is tedious, but that just reminded me how nice it was to have an auto-install to begin with.

It took me awhile to get it all together but I've finally *launched* my site into the cyber world. While it is done I know that there will always be MORE work to do to it. I welcome any suggestions!

I just added a PHPBB3 forum to my site for all sorts of artists to confer, hobnob and hold exchanges.
Originally intended to be a purely advertising site, I am revamping it to cater to the Art Community, Artists of all kinds, Art Aficianados and folks who just want to take a look.
My main site link is in my Sig ...
Here's a direct path to the BB ...

BearState, can you tell me PHPBB3 is better or vbulletin?

PHPBB3 is free, vBulletin costs money. vBulletin tends to consume more resources (more CPU), so it can be a problem on a BH account.

It sounds to me like BH may be getting in over their heads with support tickets over so called "simple matters" and by starting this forum they are hoping users can help other users with these problems and relieve some of the load.
I like the idea but I believe this isn't going to happen without the completely pointless talk around the water cooler. That's how relationships built, and trust is established. People need time to be established and it saddens me that the completely pointless crap is not welcome here.
Also, by just recently opening the forum community, they should want to foster open discussion and customer involvement regarding the forum itself. That way it quickly molds itself around the personality of its users. Giving the early community members that sense of involvment which creates the bond.

Heres my theory what you said: The whole problem is due to the nature of threaded messageboards themselves. You see, someone has most likely already answered someones question, however, it is buried in some link 75 pages deep. As a result, everything is asked over and over again, which makes the admins & moderaters Jaded, and you start seeing all of those "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" messages. This makes the support tickets grow, and pretty soon you are in the website equivalent of the DMV!!
which is why I agree with you that water-cooler talk is very much needed, because only there are people not afraid to "be a Newbie".
