I'm wondering if any of you are using Drupal and if so what experiences you've had. I'm building a test site in Drupal 4.7 and am liking it. Formal release hasn't come yet so a lot of the mods aren't working yet, but I anticipate that this will be cleared up soon.
Anyway, would like to hook up with folks who are working with it.

Hah! Your joking right? All the bb apps you mention don't compare. They are for a single purpose. Forums.. Drupal is for community sites that can be organized in limitless ways and a development framework.

I've been using and learning drupal for about 3 months now and I gotta say it strikes a sweet balance between flexibility and usability. I only know html/css and I just learned CSS shortly before. -attempting to learn php atm. It says a lot about how well it's put together. There are places I've heard where it can be improved such as the database when caching is turned off but in all other areas it's very clean. The next version I hear will focus on performance.

Well documented API's are provided and community is strong and growing.

I didn't care for it ... I tried out Drupal, GeekLog, Mambo and Joomla and eventually settled on Joomla :D

Joomla has a steeper learning curve but you can do much more with it so that's what I recommend.

I've played with Joomla (ex.Mambo). Community is huge and lot's of add-ons. If that's what you mean by doing more with it then it's true in a way. Out of the box it has more features. Joomla want's to be a lot of things vs. Drupal being basic out of the box but it is easier to customize. And I don't mean customizing by adding a plug-in or mambot.

Definitely the two are not going after the same audience.

See here (http://www.jasservices.giganticusart.com) Most web apps are good. They just all have their designs. I wouldn't take a honda civic off road (tho I have) I'd get a jeep to do the job. :)

Oh no, I meant the basic template and functions. Both communities have more ad-ons and plugins than I'd ever care to try. It takes only a few minutes to create a template with Drupal and most of a weekend to get what I wanted out of Joomla BUT I rather like Joomlas modular templates and control setup better because they allowed me to incorporate more of the things I already scripted without much need for rewriting.

Anyways, I'm sure they are all good programs but it's like dvessel said they have different target audiances. People should do a search for sites using the various scripts and see which most closely resemble what is desired.
