performance issues with phpmyadmin and FTP

I am experiencing horribly slow performance with two aspects of my account:

- FTP
- PHPMyAdmin

FTP
When uploading even small files of 100k or so the progres will freeze for as much as 2 minutes before resuming. Sometimes it can take 30+ seconds just to get a directory listing in FTP too.

With PHPMyAdmin when I select a database to view it takes from 30-45 seconds to draw the screen. Once I am connected to a database the performance is OK (not fast) but getting that list of tables is painful. This is making administration of mysql a painful process.


Has anyone else had these issue, is it something that a Bluehost customer needs to live with or is there an explanation?

I am new to Bluehost and was testing its service for another site we run. It's a shame as the web access itself is acceptable but I find it worrying that 24 hours has passed and there has been no reply from support.

Don't rely on submitting a support ticket. That's the one area of Bluehost that needs work. Call or better yet, get on instanct chat. Not sure why your box is so slow, check your code for correctness. Sometimes that can slow things down more than you think.

Don't be discouraged, Bluehost is a GREAT place to live! I've been with them since '04 and couldn't be happier. :D

I have been having some horrible speeds also! Nothing over 60kbps download, and anytime there is two or more users downloading speeds slow down to around 6kbps to 15kbps... My last host acenethosting was giving me around 150-200kbps, so I am really concerned.

Not the case with my websites hosted here. Yesterday I uploaded a series of files that were over 70 meg each.

Download speeds were very fast- 5 minutes to download a 70 meg file.
