Hi everybody,

I'd like to clarify a little point of detail before moving to BlueHost.

I already own several domains with another registrar than BH and I don't plan to change my domain registrar.

The "problem" is that the very first step of registration for BH hosting lets me in trouble : in my case, what option do I have to choose ?

The first option (New Clients - Help me get my Free Domain) with the free domain name, for whom I have to enter a new domain name to register with BH or the other one (Transfer Clients - I have a Domain Already) where I have to type in one of my domains ?
Since I don't plan to move from my registrar, I suppose the good choice is the first one but I would like to have confirmation of more experienced BH guys :)

Thanks a lot in advance,

have a nice week-end

Which domain do you intend to have point to your root directory? That is the one you need to specify when signing up for hosting. The others will be added later as add-on domains pointing to sub-directories or as parked domains. If you don't need a new domain name and don't want to transfer an existing domain then use the second option and specify the existing domain you intend to use for your main hosting as the one you specify for the setup. You just miss out on having Bluehost extend the registration on that domain for a further period of time if you do not transfer the domain registration to Bluehost but you can always change your mind about that later. The domain pointing at your root directory is the only one they will give you free and you can't change it after setting up the hosting without asking Bluehost to rebuild your entire account.

Thank you for this answer.

In fact, I have 3 domain names, one main (foo.com) and 2 parked (foo.net & foo.org) redirecting to the first one.
Since I have circa 100 mail accounts with my domain foo.com (and none with the 2 others), what is in your opinion the best thing to do to minimize the downtime for my 'email users'? (except the fact that they'll have to deal with a new webmail when it'll be finished)

I think I'll take one of my parked domain as the root one on BH and change the DNS in my registrar to make the domain pointing to BH.
But I suppose that as long as I won't have redirected my main domain foo.com on BH, I won't neither be able to re-create their mail addresses.

Btw. to backup their emails via the current webmail, they'll also have to deal with an intermediate email account like gmail on which they will move their emails the time the mail addresses on foo.com points to the mail server on BH. mmh..

Yet another (last :) question :
do you know what linux does BH run? (I plan to ask for an ssh access)

Thank you for your help!

have a nice day
