View Full Version : How to add FTP account ?

Hello,
I need your help here.
I want to share my host account with my friends to build their sites , and I want they can access their ftp directory with their own username and password but not have access to the rest of my site.

I have taken the following steps:
cPanel -> FTP Manager -> FTP Accounts -> Add FTP Account -> Add user info.( Login: abc , Password: xxx)-> Go Back -> I saw a new ftp account “ abc@aa.com” was created on the FTP Accounts page

But I don’t know what is the ftp address for my new account abc, Can anybody tell me what is the ftp address after I take the above steps ? e.g. my main domain name is aa.com

connect to www.aa.com (your domain name) as the address

Your domain (yourdomain.com) IS is the FTP address

If so , my ftp address is ftp://aa.com , but I can't access my ftp account with it:( .
For example , my main domain name is abc.com and my addon domain name is aa.com . I know the ftp address of main domain is Ftp://abc@abc.com/public_html , and what is the ftp address for my addon domain ?

Aren't addon domains just folders under public_html?

I don't understand if you can't log in or can't figure out how to get to your files.

The format for logging in would be, according to your first post:
Username: abc@aa.com
Password: xxx
Website: aa.com

Link -> ftp://abc@aa.com:xxx@aa.com

Hello Basil,
I can access the ftp for my main domain ,and I know there are some folders under public_html for addon domain names.
I just want to share the ftp with my friends,and I want they can access their ftp directory with their own username and password but not have access to the rest of my site.
How can I get this ? please advise, thank you !

I got the answer to this issue. I can not access the ftp address of my main domain ftp://domain.com with IE before , that's why I'm confused with the ftp address of addon domain .
