Hiya
This is my first post about my first websites. I apologize if this topic has been covered before.
My main domain has several add on domains.
Google and other search engines have no trouble finding the main domain,
But only find the add on domains as http://www.maindomain/addondomain.com
I’ve submitted the add on domains to the search engines as http://www.addondomain.com.au as I would like it to be displayed. The URL was verified by the search engines, so I’m confused why it is not appearing as I would like.
Does anyone have advice how to get round this problem?

Google and other search engines find web pages by following links. If they are finding maindomain.com/addon, there must be a link to that address somewhere, perhaps in one of your web pages. My advice would be to look for any urls like that and change them to addon.com.

As far as submitting urls to Google, it can't hurt, but the best way to get your pages indexed is to get them linked to from another page, preferably with high page rank, that Google already knows about.

Hope that helps,

Stephen

Thanks Stephen
I have got links from the main domain and from other add on domains, but these links are to other folders within the main domain.
I'll try re-addressing the links using the URL name of add on domain. www.addon.com.au
don't know why I didn't think of that!
Waiting to see the effect of the change is a bit of a bore though.
Cheers
John
