Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and new to web design. I'm a musician looking to build a website for selling my music by download and well....I'm a better musician than web designer.:D I've done as much research as I could before comming here and I'm just looking to make sure I've got it right.

So here's where I'm at:

I've created my basic site using html(though it isn't quite finished) and uploaded it to bluehost. As I understand it, I now need to find a shopping cart service and a payment gateway. I'm looking at using Dynamic Payment Solutions as my gateway. They offer a free shopping cart when you sign up through bluehost. Any thoughts about this company or others you recommend would be appreciated. Am I correct in thinking that most shopping cart/payment gateway services will help me with the integration of there service into my site and provide me with code for "Buy Now" buttons etc.?

I'm just a little nervous about taking this last step. It seems I could really mess things up(and waste money) if I make the wrong choices. If someone wouldn't mind I could really use a quick rundown on the steps required to create a music download site, just to ease my mind.:D

Thanks,

voltair

But I am interested in the responses you get. I don't know anyone who has used that aspect yet...

you could do that, be it gets expensive. You can however look into paypal (http://www.paypal.com). They will charge 3% or so + $0.35 every transaction, and no setup or monthly fees. Better then anything else I've seen.

My original plan was to use paypal but I found a site devoted to horror stories about them. It's paypalsucks.com I think. I'd like to collect opinions about this issue to.

Thanks,

I use paypal for credit card processing and have never had any problems. You can find a site for anything that says how much they suck and you can also find sites that say how great they are.

is that they don't allow people in some regions of the world to use it. Sort of like *me*. And a whole slew of other countries.
