hotlink and htaccess, still leeching

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums. I tried using the hotlink feature from the CP and, I was quite surprised to see that I was still able to leech my pictures from a flash application on another host. So, maybe I should just use htaccess then! No, it doesnt work either. Just wanna know if this was a bug and if there is a workaround for it. Thank you!

You have to add the .swf extension by clicking on the "Hotlink Protection" icon then go to the "Extensions to protect (seperate by commas): " field under the large window and add ".swf".

That should do it.
