Hello, this is my first post here, so am I certainly a newbie to this forum. I am sure this question has been asked before, but I was not able to find a thread about this. So here goes. I want to make sure that subdomains that I create, while they point to a dir. under public_html, should display as subdom.maindom.com. Currently, When I create a subdomain and point my browser to it, it goes to www.maindom.com/directory_name/
I am not sure that I can correct this myself through the Cpanel, so I am wondering if Support handles this.
Thank you.

It shouldn't be doing that, when I make a subdomain and it finishes propagating I can visit it at sub.mydomain.com. I can also visit it at mydomain.com/sub, but that's not really an issue if you only link to the subdomain.
ie. http://zib.semlar.biz

That's interesting. When you setup a Subdomain, you simply point it at a directory under the public_html, right?

When I make a subdomain (through cPanel) it automatically creates a folder with the same name under public_html.

The extra ways of accessing subdomains and addon domains are so you can access them within your account for updating them. You only need to publish the subdom.maindom.com or addondom.com address on the web and no one will know where they are relative to maindom.com (other control panels have other ways of handling this using different locations).
