Problem signing-in on PHPBB

I just installed phpbb and it's work OK, except it will not let me sign-in as admin. It show my user name, but I'm not logged-in. If I try to register with the same user name and password a message pops up and tell me that the user name is already register. I have that same board set-up on another web site with NO problems. My question... is there a time period before the board works? Or did I error when I set-up the board?

You erred somewhere. After an installation you should be able to login immediately.

Download the Admin Toolkit from phpBB.com if the problem is in the database that will be the easiest way to fix it.

When you are admin you log into the board and then when you hit to go to the admin panel or try to do anything that uses your admin power over the board then you must sign in the second time. This is to make sure that the real admin is there and it is not a case of the admin forgot to log out and someone else is snooping with there account. BUT you only have to do this once per loggin/vistit. So if it is just asking you to log in but you see that you are already logging in that may be what is going on. If it won't let you log in that second time to go to the ACP then you should do as siguie says and get the Admin tool kit.
