I'm publishing a hard cover book and want to sell it on a new site I'm building. I need to offer different currencies etc. and shipping prices. Does the cart have to be part of the website or is it better to send purchasers from a 'buy now' button thru to a place like 1ShoppingCart to complete the transaction with all the variables? Is this how it works or have I got it all wrong? Sorry - I'm an eCommerce newbie. The books etc on my current site are all affiliate links so haven't had to do this yet. Would really appreciate some help.
Many thanks - Lindsay

visited the 1ShoppingCart... and its quit costly for $26 per mth.
i use 2checkout before, and their price is much more reasonable.
and for hard cover books.. try selling through amazon.

Thanks Charles, I'll have a look at 2checkout. Re my question above, do you know if this is how it works? Shopping carts on websites is the one thing I'm struggling to understand. Also, will certainly apply to Amazon but they take such a huge percentage I'd like to also sell direct. Thanks again for taking the time to answer. Regards - Lindsay

2checkout.. after you signup. you can integrate to your existing shopping cart. and user checkout at 2CO website. by this you will not even need the SSL or shared SSL thing.
the second alternative is paypal payment. i not much recommend this, because the seller is not much protected from dispute case.

Another alternative is PayPal. I have several sites on the Internet including dating sites. I am going to check out your site, sounds interesting :)
