Hello,

I'm completely new to the web/programming environment and have basically just been doing as much research and question asking as possible in order to give me some clues as to my road forward.

Am I to understand that CMS's is a way in which the admin of a site can control ALL aspects of his/her site?

What are the benefits/drawbacks of using a CMS program?

Of all the CMS programs offered by Bluehost, which ones are you using and do you find to be most effective?

Are there any combination clashes between othe software offered by Bluehost. example: Does PHPnuke work alright along side phpBB ?

Thanks in advance. I appreciate any and all feedback.

Peter

suggest you find more user review of each cms that you going to use.
basically, they are well developed, and by using it, there is no need to reinventing the wheel.

for installation, each script should be installed at their own folder/domain, and using own database. thus will not crash to each other.

If you do a search on CMS here at BH forums or certain cms names, you'll find what others have said about cms': likes, dislikes, compares, favorites.
Personaly i think you might want to try several to see which you feel comfi with. Some are easy to undertsand, manage, tweek..etc others are not. some have lots of online support, skins and such, others do not. Almost all do basicly the same thing: allowing you to manage MOST(not all) aspects of the system.
Then it also depends on your programming skills and what you want to do with the cms.(develop for others or built your own website)

Check out opensourcecms.com. they let you play around with all the free CMS softwares you want, and no matter what you do with it, it gets reset after a couple hours. :)

Thanks thesizer. I've already checked this site out and played around a little. I think it's a great conceptual idea they have; being able to demo before install.

I guess I'm an old school kinda guy that prefers personal interaction with admins that have hands on experiences to share. All said and done, Joomia looks pretty good after fiddling around with the demo. And being a Mac guy, well . . . it just looks prettier than the rest! ~I'm so shallow~
