Image Question

Hello everyone.
I'm fairly new to the website scene, and i'm having some trouble adding images to my website.
I uploaded a couple background images to bluehost, however, when i go to the address of the image (nofoolscomics.com/pattern_097.gif), it says it doesn't exist. I saved it under the root directory, so i don't think it's a directory problem.
Anyone have a clue what's wrong?

You need to FTP your files to the public_html directory. However, the URL for accessing those files will not include public_html. So, if you upload mydog.jpg to the public_html directory on your account, the URL for it is nofoolscomics.com/mydog.jpg.
