I have three domains. I'm working on a site in Nvu for one of my add on domains. I uploaded the index file to ftp.myaddondomain.com/www like it says in the help. Is this correct for add ons? Doesn't seem right. I can't find the index.html file I uploaded on the server. Shouldn't I be uploading to a public_html? How do I get it in the directory for this particular add on? Please help. This seems so simple, but I just can't figure it out.

after you addon new domain from cpanel.
you will get a new folder in the public_html/ folder.
for sample: public_html/newaddonhere/
upload the addon domain files to public_html/newaddonhere/ instead.
and you will have the addon domain as seperate website running at its own.

I have a subdomain - or so I call it - ri.sclerodermasupportgroup.net
What would be the public_html . . . path to that? I had it working for several years and now it does not.
sclerodermasupportgroup.net is an addon domain for me, with ri. as a prefix.

Your main domain points to public_html (unless you insert code into the .htaccess file to redirect it into a folder)
All add-on and sub-domains go in folders within public_html. Which folder belongs to which domain depends on what you specify when you add the add-on domain or sub-domain. They will point to whatever folder you want to point them to within public_html.
www is just an alias of public_html (another way to reference the same folder).
If an add-on or sub-domain stops working because it lost track of what folder it is supposed to be pointing to then simply use the option in cPanel to delete and recreate it specifying the correct folder name that it is supposed to be using.

Man... I seem to have all the same problems as some others here too ;-)
I did EXACTLY as @Felgall says to do just a few days ago... he is exactly correct (Stephens' reputation +1).
When you create the domain in cPanel it'll suggest a directory name made up of the obvious stuff, but you don't have to use it and can change it just by overtyping it.
This way you can make the folder name something quick and easy/obvious to you when you log into the cPanel rather than a long and perhaps tortuous name that the domain might have. this folder name does not have to be the domain name... it will not be visible when a user goes to that domain to use it. In fact "ri.sclerodermasupportgroup.net" is a bit long.. perhaps "sgroup" as a folder name would be easier to remember if you have a lot of folders in the account?
The set up in cPanel is simply a set of pointers to tie the directory to the web server to the DNS entry people are going to actually use to display the site. Several files you as a user don't see get edited, but then as this isn't a full virtual server set up we shouldn't see any of that underlying stuff now should we?
