Three calls to Bluehost customer support and no resolution yet. Perhaps someone here has an answer this puzzle. New account, fresh Joomla install. All directory permissions need to be reset to 777 for me to access them. If I install a component using Joomla's installer then it locks me out and I cannot modify any files within that directory.
The level 1 customer support guy told me that nobody owns the directory and this is why files cannot be changed or modified...or deleted.
This is my 5th account with Bluehost and 13th Joomla installation and I've never run into this issue before.
By the way, the config.php file had to be set to 777 in order for Joomla to change global settings. It's as if my FTP permissions are not top level. It seems that modifying files is pretty basic function for an administrator and it's locking me out.
Any wisdom would be appreciated. I'm waiting for my 4th call to Bluehost tech support now. If I find an answer from them I'll post it.
