I have a company website I'm having to work on and they want a flash intro, but I understand that Flash Intros are sort of a NO NO in web design unless they are done right. So what I want to do is have the intro play on top of the main home page and have a Close button on the bottom of the right hand corner for people to skip the intro, when they hit close or the flash intro is done playing I want the intro to either shrink and disappear or fade away so that the home page is usable. The home page is mostly HTML and Javascript. Is there anyway to do this or am I doomed to have the Flash intro my index page and deal with the annoying page transition that is required of a flash intro.

Thanks in advance,
Steven

hope i get the question right.
You can have intro.. when close event, redirect(within flash) to the mainpage.

alternative if the intro is run on top of the homepage.
By using div, you can have the flash floating on top of the homepage.
When clicked the close, javascript to hide the div itself.

The general rule for Flash intros is:

Amateur/novice sites with a flash intro should have a prominent link to allow the intro to be skipped. Most people will immediately leave before the flash intro starts but the prominent link to skip the intro will at least ensure that the rest of the visitors can find their way around the obstacle into the site.

There is no such thing as a flash intro on a professional site. The last such intro was deleted many years ago when it was realised the effect that they have on diving 90%+ of potential visitors away before they even get to the site. It used to be the number one worst thing that could be found on web sites in terms of usability and accessibility until the professionals realised it and deleted them all.
